vaginal blisters

Approximately 4 weeks ago, i went to my gyn for my annual visit.  I expressed to her that i had heavy periods, some pelvic pain & unusual white discharge.  I had a pap & urinalysis, both which were negative. She also ordered a pelvic ultrasound, which showed some small cysts in the uterus & ovaries.  She also put me on the Loestrin FE bcp's to control my bleeding & cramps.  I started taking the pills on march 14.  Since then, I started a relationship & we had unprotected sex. Neither one of us has ever had any std's.  The last time we were together was march 26.  The weekend passed & on Sunday I noticed a lesion on the inside of my vagina, which burned when i urinated.  I looked carefully & found no others, inside or out.  On Monday morning, my partner told me that his penis head was red, raw & very swollen and there was a small blister. He told me that he had experienced some pain during the first time we had sex, just a week earlier, but didn't say anything and that actually it was even a bit more painful the second time, but again chose to say nothing.  Well, it's been a week & his symptoms are still the same, except there are more blisters.  He's embarrased to see a dr.  Me, I continued having pelvic & flank pain since last week.  Ended up in the ER on Saturday. After urinalysis, bloodwork & CT scan, I was diagnosed with a UTI & renal stone, and was told to follow-up with urologist. I stopped taking the pill and of course threw my cycle off & got my period yesterday.  This morning, I noticed more blisters along the inside folds of the labia, kind of like in a row.  Some of the blisters appear to have become sores.  They truly burn when I urinate.  My gyn is on vac & I can't get in to see her until april 14th.  I do have an appt w/ a urologist this afternoon.  Any idea what is wrong w/ me?  With him?

yes one of you could've had it and not known it and just recently transmitted it to the other prior to having their first obvious recurrence.  that's why you both need proper testing and evaluation.

I went to urologist.  He told me to continue antibiotics for a period of 7 days & i have to return on the 21st for an u/s & only addressed uti & kidney issue.  As for the blisters, he advised me to see gyn & get culture for herpes.  Is it possible that we both have it & broke out at the same time?

you both need to be seen and have proper exams done. odds are neither of you have ever been tested for herpes before. both of you can get type specific herpes igg blood tests done now.

not sure if the urologist will do a vaginal exam and testing for you but you can ask.
