and burning. After some steroids for 4 days and then balmex for 4 days it got worse and the PA in my derm office found yeast. He prescribed econazol and it improved as far as redness but did not go away. Saw my urologist and he agreed it looked like could have been a balinitis from yeast. He prescribed nystatin/triamcinolone and no help and maybe a little worse after 4 days so stopped that. Needless to say now it is 3 1/2 months and I have been through Nystatin, econazole, triamcinolone, cutivate, biafine, Valtrex (7 days in middle December for Shingles) and Elidel and none seem to make it resolve. It has gotten better and seems to do better when nothing is on it than when we try to treat it. It seemed to be doing fairly well. This past Saturday, I barely noticed it, but the last 48 hours I am feeling it more again though not as intense as at first. IT does not look any worse, but feeling it more. 3 1/2 years ago I had protected sex
as well. I was tested by Herpes Select 10 1/2 to 11 weeks later and was negative for herpes type 1 and 2. I have been in a monogomous relationship since and had no symptoms (nor has my partner) until October (no sex
since October). My derm PA did not think it was herpes because he felt it was lasting too long and he said with the steroids and all the meds we treated it with I would have likely formed more classic herpes lesions by now. Is it still possible this is herpes. My symptoms have never completely gone away.
Thank you for the reply Grace. I have been convinced for a while that it is not herpes because it has just gone on way too long with no period of full resolution, but I guess my mind had not fully let that fear
go. I considered geting retested, but since the girl I have dated for almost 3 years has cold sores and I have kissed her when they were starting I was pretty sure I would test HSV1 positive and cinfuse things. Thanks for your reply. It is reassuring.
