what are the different blood test

What are the different blood test for herpes? When I tested positive for a HVS2 with a culture test. I contacted the two most recent people I had been with and shared my status with them so they could be tested. I have not had any sexual contact with one of them for 5 months and the other longer than that. But I wanted to let them know anyway to get tested. One friend said his test came back negative but he was going to test again in  a few months to make sure. Are some types of blood test better than others? I've seen discussions where people are talking about number? How do you figure out when you got this? I guess I'll never know. because its been over 5 months since I was sexually active.

There is no way to figure out when you got it at this point.  You could've contracted it the first time you had sex or the last time you had sex as well as at any point in between.  Your partner who tested negative doesn't need to test again - more than enough time passed that there's no need to do so.

We use the numbers to see if it's worthwhile getting additional testing done due to low positives which have a chance of being a false positive.

You know you are + because you had a + lesion culture.  Make sure the culture was actually typed as hsv2+ and not just it came back as hsv+ and it's assumed it's hsv2 because it's genital.  If your prior partner tested negative with a herpes igg blood test, then you know they don't have it.
