what do i do? - hvs2

2 months ago I received oral sex from a girl in an asian massage parlor.  This was first time I ever cheated on my wife of 10+ years.  We have 2 children, and she is 3 months pregnant.  I have been very afraid to have sex with so haven't for 2 months.  Today I told the love of my life I have hvs2.  She is so very hurt, and I'm such an ***.  One very drunk night and one very stupid act has jeopardized by life!  I'm not one of those asswhole guys, but acted like one on this on night!  Advise anyone?  How do I eventually ease her pain?  Advise anyone?

My wife got her results back and they said she had 2LgG. It said present, but could be from long past or current infection. What do I do? I have not been with another woman in many years. Could I have had this from years back? I have never had a rash or any type of symptoms.

plenty of research studies out there with the false positive issues.

I will have to check specifically about my wifes' igg test, but I'm pretty sure.  just got my HSV AB IGM results and they were negative, but everyone says that this is a useless test.  thanks grace for your input, it is very much appreciated.  How do you know that the hsv2 test has a "false positive issue"?

did your wife also have type specific herpes igg blood testing done?

there is a false positive issue with the herpes tests with hsv2. You fall within that range so you need to confirm your results with further testing.  since the questionable encounter was 2 months ago, waiting another 2 months for further testing is the best course of action just in case this was actual sex and not just oral.  You aren't likely to contract hsv2 from oral sex so if you do have hsv2, odds are you had it before this and never knew it. do you know if you were ever tested for it before?

you should have a full std screening since you aren't sure what went on exactly. that includes gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis testing just to err on the side of caution.

How did I jump the gun?  I tested positive 2.63 for the HSV2IGG test.  Doesn't this mean that I have HSV2?  My wife tested negative.  What follow up test should the doctor have me take?  This incident happend 8 weeks ago, I was absolutely intoxicated, therefore don't know whether i received oral or vaginal sex, but I believe it was oral from this woman.  I tested HIV negative (HIV 1/2 EIA SCR w/REFL test), after 8 weeks should I still be worried about HIV.  What other tests for HSV2 and HIV should I be considering?  Anyone?

you definitely need to follow up on your testing. also your wife needs tested too to know her status. If you were never tested before, you could've even had this prior to meeting her and never knew it.

I honestly don't recommend the infectious disease doctor. Usually herpes is too small of an issue for them unless you have hiv and they don't always give the best advice. Honestly get her tested and get confirmatory testing yourself and go from there.

the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com is a terrific resource that is free online to read. both of you reading that will tell you almost everything you need to know about living with hsv2 if your status is confirmed as really being + for hsv2.

You pretty much jumped the gun on everything here, and let guilt overplay risk. Your symptoms were probably related to shaving, or jock itch. Even if this gal had oral HSV2 orally (which is rare), the chance of transmitting it is astronomically low.

Your test result - no doubt unrelated to this incident -  is a low positive and would need confirmatory testing - either the Western Blot or Biokit. Disregard your IgM results, as it's pretty much worthless for diagnosing herpes.

So in other words, without further testing, you don't even know that you have HSV2. And even if so, you almost certainly didn't get it from this incident.

I tested positive 2.63 for the HSV2IGG test, and don't have the results yet for the HSV AB(IGM) test yet.  To complicate matters, 2 days before this terrible act happened, I shaved my genitals (will never do again).  About a week later (maybe earlier) I got a rash.  That I still have today, although it is not as bad.  I saw 3 doctors and all said that it did not look like herbies, but more of a jock itch or fungus.  So I'm on an antifungal creme to take care of this issue.. ugg..

I was very drunk this night, and basically passed out, until I felt something wet down there.  I assumed it was her putting her mouth on my penis, but it very well could have been her vagina.  Once I felt this I got up and ran out trembling.  I have no idea why I went in there?  I tested negative for HIV, but it has been less than 2 months.

my wife is hsv2 negative and feeking out about whether the kids can catch it from using the same soap, a towel, or even if they kissed me or shared a bottle of water.  I just don't know.  We are seeking a counselor, and are going to talk with a infectious disease doctor next week.  This is just horrible.

I am in the same situation you are in. I told my wife after cheating on her that I had tested pos for HSV2. Found out that I didn't have IgG type specific test. After being tested 12, 16, 24 months I was neg for HSV2 and Pos type 1 and neg for all the other STD's.  later I saw a Urologist and was treated for Prostatitis. Long treatment of Antibiotics. Remember not everything that happens down below is HSV2. Stay possitive. As for your wife. I went to counseling and did alot of soul searching. My wife wanted to make our marriage work and put the effort. I look back at it now. I can't believe I did that. Allmost losing my kids and wife. I couldn't imagine some other guy raising my two boys and etc. Counseling worked for us as well as time. Pain does ease with time. I can go on and on. I feel your pain and hope everything works out.  Take Care.

it's not likely you contracted hsv2 from oral sex.

what testing did you have done?

what symptoms did you have?
