what does the igG test really tell me?

So these are my test results

Tests: (5) HERPES SIMPLEX 2 IgG (5342)
HERPES SIMPLEX 2 IgG [H]  >5.00 INDEX                 SEE BELOW

         HSV IgG INDEX VALUE               INTERPRETATION
1.10            POSITIVE FOR IgG ANTIBODIES TO HSV 2

What does a value of >5.00 index really mean?
- Does it really mean I have herpes?
- Does it indicate how long I've had them?
- If a committed partner also was tested and her score was higher does it mean she had Herpes first?

Basically looking for information on how the level of igG antibodies are determined? Do they increase over time? If so is a predictable rate or is completly variable based on age, gender, diet, etc. etc.

a hsv2 igg of >5 just means that it's a well established infection and that it's not likely to be a false positive. You could've contracted it 3 months ago or 3 years ago, you can't tell from the blood test results.

igg results once positive, tend to stay positive though they will vary from test to test and lab to lab somewhat.
