Ok thanks for clarifying I can't express my level of gratitude for this valuable information
If you have genital to genital (or genital to anal) sex with someone who has genital HSV2, they can transmit their HSV2 herpes to you. Hence why it's more about what your partner has, while having a baseline on yourself.
Ok thanks I appreciate it I'll be going to the doctors this week to get the test do you know if it is expensive because I really don't have great health insurance :( also did you mean on genitals or contract it genitally I'm sorry I misunderstood
Oh well if you already have oral herpes, the chance of getting it genitally is incredibly small. You already have it! No need to worry about that.
You can still get HSV2 though genitally. So, makes sense to be tested for it, and of course to know your partner's status. Condoms only reduce the risk of transmission by about 30% (because the condom doesn't fully cover the penis, and it's transmitted by skin to skin contact along with heat/friction).
Thanks and yes I have had cold sores before but I usually use condoms I just wasn't thinking right at the time. that was a one night stand well two nights but its been roughly six months since that incident I was wondering if I had genital herpes would I have had lesions by now or should I seek the igg blood test?
Oral sex is low risk for herpes transmission, but of course it can happen if your partner has oral herpes (I got it from my partner 5 years after a LOT of oral sex heehee).
Have you ever had cold sores? You can avoid the worry by knowing your own and your partner's herpes status prior to having (oral) sex. You would want an IgG type specific blood test.
