whodunit

I am aware that HSV1 is a virus that can be dormant in people for years and no one will know where they contracted it for sure. I am also aware that the likelyhood of contracting genital HSV1 after having oral HSV1 is extremely rare for the aquired antibodies protect you from it. I am a female that has never had any kind of outbreak or symptoms of herpes either orally or gentially. No one in my family has had cold sores and none of my past boyfriends had ever had symptoms. I have been dating a man who was going through a divorce after 20 years of marriage. He too has never had herpes syptoms in either place and is unsure if his wife has ever had a cold sore (but possible). One day we noticed a blister  near the head of his penis and thought nothing of it. Thought is was injury from chaffing or something. We continued our normal routines. A couple days later he had an outbreak. A few days after that I had an outbreak. Our 1st outbreak for both of us. I went and got tested and medicated and was diagnosed for HSV1. We were both horrible confused. This was one year ago and I have not had any outbreaks since but He is now getting his second. My questions are:

1. Who is most likely to have had the virus first? (no one is blaming anyone)

2. How likely is it to pass HSV1 genital to genital without noticable oral infection on any partner?

3. What are the chances of recurent outbreaks in the genital region and can they become oral?

4. If he is having symptoms now and I am not can he cause me to have an outbreak if we do have sex?

Thanks

Get IGG Blood test.  I am currently in the same situation as you.  I got a little bump on my penis 2 weeks ago, and just got tested positive for HSV1.  I heard there could be possibility of false positives depending on your IGG level.  I have no idea how I contracted it either and my partner doesn't have.  Doctors say theres no way to find out who got it first.

Gyno took swab culture or blisters and the testing came back as HSV1. No blood test. He was never tested. Just assumed we had the same virus.
