worried about herpes

i had unprotected oral sex 10 weeks ago and have had a redish rash on the head of my penis since the day after , this has never broken out into blisters but sometimes is worse and sometimes seems to be going , but always remains . it looks like small bumps on the head of the penis and i also sometimes have a redish rash on the foreskin . i have seen a doctor and had a full STD test at 4.5 weeks which was all negative , the doctor said he thought it was dermertitus and gave me some steroid cream , but it still wont go . i have since had sex with a new partner and she has developed cystitis - i am so worried its herpes .

would dermertitus give my partner cystitis or ,maybe some of the steroid cream rubbed off ?

would a herpes test at 4.5 weeks be correct

please advise

I'm not sure what you have, but a herpes outbreak does not last 10 weeks.  Even if you had herpes, this rash has nothing to do with it.  A herpes blood test at 4.5 weeks is encouraging, but not conlcusive.  Tests can take up to four months to become positive.  Also, oral sex is generally low risk for STDs - if your partner did not have any visible cold sores, don't worry about it.  Bottom line - if you were to test positive for herpes, it was most likely not from this exposure.  Oral sex is not a common route for HSV-2 transmission and while HSV-1 transmission can occur through oral sex, it's unlikely if your partner did not have a cold sore.
Good luck,
Em
