worried and looking for hope

I have herpes (not sure which type, but definitely get cold sores so HSV1 for sure).  My doctor was less than forthcoming with information at the time of my diagnosis (still not sure if I have genital herpes or not).  It's been well over 5 years since the doctor visit.   I've gotten cold sores much of my life, maybe every other year or so.

Here's my question:  How likely are you to pass herpes to another man's penis through oral sex if you have no sores or symptoms?  Recently had unprotected oral (bad decision) and I'm just worried to death that I might have inadvertently spread this to him.

There is so much info on the net that makes me hopeful and then I'll read one that makes me scared as heck.  Unfortunately I may not be able to contact this person to try to correct the problem or alert them to being watchful.

I know 50-80% of adults have HSV1, but just hoping I'm driving myself crazy or do I really need to be worried for a dumb one night stand.  I'm so scared I've made this guys life miserable.  Help?

I can't say thank you enough.  I know there's always a "chance" with this crazy virus, but it does ease the mind to know I probably am just overreacting and can maybe get some good sleep.

I know I will sleep better tonight after one drunken moment of weakness and that's thanks to the great people on here.  I've read quite a few of your posts and you clearly know what you're talking about.  Thank you sooo much!

The odds are low, 1 in 5,000 per episode say. However they are zero if he already has HSV1, which will be upwards of 70% chance.

Further, he's been getting oral sex from women with HSV1 in the past and I'm sure he's not about to change.

Hence there is simply nothing to worry about.
