worried.....

Girlfriend and i broke up for a couple months and she had sex with another guy. she had a possible herpes scare, with blisters on genitals. she was tested igg at at least 14 weeks after last time having sex with the guy and hsv1 was positive, hsv2 was negative. i have seen and can interpret results. the obvious conclusion is that hsv1 was genital infection, but is 14 weeks enough time for seroconversion for hsv2?

we are now back together and she as had another outbreak on genitals about 7-8 months since first one. i am worried the first test was maybe a false negative, but 3-4 months is supposedly conclusive?

Did she see her provider at all for a lesion culture and typing with either of her ob's?

Have you been tested to know your own herpes status?

Typically 14 weeks is long enough for seroconversion to occur. You can assume hsv1 genitally but it really should be confirmed with a lesion culture and typing to be sure if she hasn't had that done yet.

Ya i have been tested before. both types were negative for me. i never had any signs and hadnt had sex in 4months so i got tested to be sure. she has had a culture which came back negative. i dont know about typing a culture? the test she took was type specific and she just actually got a culture of the recent one.

Did the most recent culture come back negative too or is she still waiting for results?
