MVP Question
Hi Folks,

For the longest time I have been experiencing left sided chest discomfort.  A squeezing sensation to be specific.  Recently I had yet another Nuclear Stress which came back negative. (I am 41 years old btw)  Anyway, this time the Cardiologist had the presence of mind to perform an Echo.  Viola! We have a diagnosis.  Mitral Valve Prolapse apparently.  My question is does this condition cause chest discomfort?  Anyone out there have this condition?  Can you describe what your discomfort feels like?  Thanks for reading.

Hi,
How are you? Mitral valve prolapse  may be asymptomatic or may present with irregular heartbeat , dizziness or lightheadedness, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, fatigue or chest pain that's not caused by a heart attack or coronary artery disease.  The type of pain may vary, it can be sharp or stabbing sensation may be felt but not the pressure-type pain often associated with heart attack.  Hope this helps. Take care and best regards.
