LYMPHOMA IN 8 YEAR OLD DOG

My 8 year old Tibetan Terrier was diagnosed this past Monday with Lymphoma.  He had 2 small swollen lymph nodes under his neck and then I noticed 2 small ones in the groin.  They enlarged quite rapidly.  The vet took chest and abdomen x-rays and also a needle biopsy which came back positive, gave him 8 months to live.  I cannot accept this, since my dog is never sick and has been on a boiled white chicken dinner with broccoli, carrots, zuccini, and whatever vegetable I am cooking at that time, since he was a puppy.  He also gets whole grain brown rice mixed in, plus he eats some dry dog food which is Innova.  He loves all types of vegetables and fruits, especially salads.  I am looking for something to boost his immune system and to hopefully put this in remission since he is my sole companion and I am a senior who will do anything to prolong his chance of being with me.  Please help me.  I am looking for alternative treatment rather than the conventional that my vet suggested.  He is now on Prednisone only, I refused the Leuketrin, since I want to see what else is available without overloading his system or any interaction.
