Abnormal Pap Atypical squamous Cells

Hi there,
I am 40 yrs old and had an abnormal pap about 20 years ago and at that time was positive for HPV and mild to moderate dysplasia - had cone biposy, cryotherapy and lazer and everything cleared.

I had my yearly pap and found out my pap came back abnormal after 15-20 yrs of normal ones - i got a glance at the report and it said ATYPICAL SQUAMOU CELLS - my dr told me to come back in 6 months for a repeat pap.

I am normally a stressful person and now this has got me realy freaked out and constantly on my mind that this could be something worse and by waiting 6 months caould change into Cancer which i am so terrified of!

is 6 months too long to wait for another repeat pap and then wait for results and then if still abnormal wait another likely 4 months before getting into a specialist to do the coposcopy?

Dhat could be the chances that maybe some worse cells were missed on the pap like high in the canal and its realy bad? Could this have anything to do with what i had 20 yrs ago or could this be soemthing totally new?

I have been with my hubby for the past 20 years and have 2 beautiful children.
