. The whole reason I went to the clinic was to do an initial screening because my boyfriend (later became husband) and I wanted to be intimate. I was trying to do the responsible thing. I had a colpo done a few months later by an extremely incompetent, idiot of a doctor. It was horrible! Since then I have had more abnormal paps
than I can count. There have been a few normals, but for the past 7 years I haven't had a normal one. I've had about 9 colpos and am scheduled for another one next month. I have seen several gynos (I've moved some here and there and recently switched gynos because the one I had didn't listen to me, annoying!!) I have had kryo done 3 times, LEEP, conization even a D&C to remove any abnormal cells. I'm just so tired of this and I have heard so many conflicting things from docs or else they simply don't explain things well enough. I must confess that I became hostile one time at a doctor's office and about ripped the nurse's head
off. I have had to deal with the guilt of having an "STD," the pain and discomfort of going through these procedures, and the cost of co-pays/deductibles. I am SICK of this. SICK SICK SICK A few gynos have told me that they have seen women go through this (though I have yet to meet one who has for as long as I have, but if you're out there, let me know). Gynos have also told me that sometimes all of this clears up after a woman has a baby. On the other hand, I have had gynos tell me that they have seen some women experience difficulty with carrying a child to term after she has gone through so much "trauma" to her cervix. The question---is there anyone else who has gone through this for so long or as often? Have any of you had success with any treatments? Anyone had it all go away after having a baby?
you shouldnt feel bad millions of women have hpv but it sounds to me that you have high risk hpv not the type that causes warts every person is different some clear it and some dont i know it sucks with all the doctors visits but we gotta do it i have my second colp this month i only have cin1 hopefully it didnt get any worse trust i hate the visits too and it sucks cause i lost my insurance
I have heard every now and then about really persistent paps, although it's rare I still sometimes ready peoples comments on it on various forums. It is definitely defeating and your pain and annoyance is justified. Although most of the time stubborn HPV is down to the state of a persons immune system, or stress or factors such as smoking, drinking etc. I think luck plays a role too. I have heard from one or two people who are extremely healthy and cautious yet they are so unlucky when it comes to HPV. Obviously luck is only my opinion.
I agree with omgj, paps very very rarely detect low risk, wart causing types so it sounds more like you have high risk - especially because you've had no warts. Maybe what the Dr meant by 'low risk' was 'low grade' as in minor cell changes. That'd make more sense.
