Can I be re-infected with hpv if the leep procedure is successful?

I am having a LEEP procedure done next week and the doctor is confident this will take care of the dysplasia. I am married. Could I be re-infected with HPV if my husband has it? I am assuming the chances are pretty great that he does, since we have been having unprotected sex for years. Does anyone have any answers? I don't want to ever go through this again.

Lissaw - could be the old virus coming out and playing.  If your immune system is compromised, that can happen.  Just keep an eye on it.  Good luck.

I had the LEEP procedure done, now 5yrs later my doctor said that my pap shows that I have HPV. I have only been with one partner for the last 6yrs.  I don't know if this one is new or its the same that I've had.

You can safely assume that both you and your hubby have the same strain(s).  The good news is that once you have one type, you can't get it again.  You could get another type if either one of you have sex with another person.  Regardless, hpv is common, about 85% of the population has it.  Most people have it and don't even realize it.  It's very normal to have it than to not have it.

Good luck with your LEEP.  You'lll be fine and more than likely will never have any more problems with hpv.
