Can my girlfriend get hpv from me through oral sex?

I am a lesbian, and i just found out i have hpv, i have read alot about the topic recently because to be told you have an std is a scary thought, the one question that i have not found an answer to is can my girlfriend get hpv from me thru oral sex, obviously given my lifestyle oral sex is a pretty regular occurance, i am in the process of having the warts frozen off and i know that i cant do anything sexually during the treatment and for sometime after but i want to make sure that when the time comes that my girlfriend cant get the virus from me possibly in her mouth, can she get warts in her mouth, is that even possible? if anyone can help clarify for  me that would be great thank you

To dani, i have found that it is definately possible to pass hpv thru oral sex but very unlikely, like naveed said is rare but could be possible.  I just  have issues with not having a for sure answer on something like this, cause i would be heartbroken if my girlfriend conrtacted it to just because i was stupid at one point in my life, as far as i know this type of hpv cant be detected in a pap, i had a pap done about 2 months before i found out i had hpv and my results came back comepletely normal the only reason i found out was because i noticed some abnormal spots and i went to the dr for them and she did some type of chemical test thing..... my dr told me i could have contracted the std anywhere from 2 months ago to a few years ago so there is no way to know who i got it from or when i got it. the hardest part with this issues is that i havent found any FOR SURE answers anywhere so its hard to know whats going to happen. i dunno if this helps but i will keep you updated if i find anything new. -ashley

Oral hpv is rare and not common, the reason being strains those cause genital warts do not survive well inside oral enviornment... On the topic of hpv, nothing can be said with certainity but studies show a very rare occurance of oral hpv... You can never be sure of transmission even if you've treated warts but it is good to reduce the possibility of transmission... The reason is because you might have sub-clinical warts (those are hard to see by yourself)... the only way you can be sure of not transmitting the virus to others is abstaining from sex or direct skin contact with your lesion...
