Can regular warts show up on a penis?

my husband has had a history of warts on his arm, elbow, hands and feet.  recently he discovered what he thought was an ingrown hair on his penis - when he saw a urologist recently the doctor said it could only be genital warts (he could not inspect the area well because my husband had tried to remove what he thought was a hair but only found the same kind of skin he has always seen in other warts).  I just wonder if it is possible to spread the same kind of wart from somewhere else on your body to the genital area?  If so, is that spreadable?  thank you for your help...
