If you are confused, join the party. Medical science doesn't agree on this virus at all. Facts change every year.
The term "cleared" does not mean gone from your body and never returns. That was never the case. It means that your immune system has successfully made it dormant in your body and it is at such low levels that it cannot be found in any test (only women can be tested) and you are no longer infectious at that time. A virus never ever leaves your body. HPV is a virus. If you've had the chicken pox as a kid, that virus is still in your body too.
Dr. HHH and Dr. Hook - both say similar things. A person can clear it in 6-24 months and since nearly everyone has it, its no big deal. They believe that all sexually active adults have been exposed to it. Some get symptoms and some do not. Some have such strong immune systems that they do not get infected. Even today, Dr Hook wrote to someone that we should assume everyone has it and he refused to ack that when 2 people rub their genitals together (no sex) that they can pass HPV.
And yes, stress does cause your immune system to weaken and it can result in more warts. Who doesn't have stress in the 21st century? Kids stress adults, our jobs and marriages stress adults, money problems stress adults, driving on packed highways stress us too. Stress is everywhere in my life. So the best thing for me to do is to not drink booze and to exercise often to reduce the impacts that stress has on my immune system. I'm taking vitamins and supplements to increase it too. A stronger immune system is key!
She said people always come in with warts when they're stressed... like before exams, weddings, moving houses... Oh my god!?!
I have been on this site for a couple of years now, and I check it everyday to read peoples posts, and see how past-posters are getting on. I can say from my viewing of this site people who experience warts after the 2 year mark or people who have a wart outbreak years after there last isn't that regular at all. The majority of people have a few outbreaks and follow the 6 months - 2 year rule of thumb, with a lot of people having only one or two minor outbreaks.
The thing with this virus which is frustrating, is that there are no definates, and people tend to believe there own ideas based on personal experience. Someone might have a bad time with warts, and then they generalise and tell others thats just how it is, when it isn't. The virus differs dramatically between people. Theres no definite clearing period, no definite outbreak period, no definite way of knowing who you got it from. All we can do is rely on the statistics and the knowledge that we have but there are some people who just think what they want to think based on what they are experiencing.
Keeping that in mind, doctors have to be very careful what they say. The statistics may say there is close to zero chance of something happening, but they can't go around saying its impossible because it has not been proved yet - so many have different approaches in explaining things (some will say there is no chance for this or that happening, others will say there is a chance etc)
Also just to add the doctors on this site are incredibly knowledgable and have delt with so many people and they really are experts. I would trust what they say over somebody who works in a clinic, but thats just my personal opinion.
