Do I have urethral warts?

by agathi, Jul 01, 2009 07:30AM

I have recently noticed two very tiny brown warts, one on each side near the urethra (between the clitoris and vulva).

I went to the gynaec he says it not HPV as HPV looks very different. He's put some solution to make it fall off, but they are still there after 3 days.

I have also been suffering from urine retention. My worry is that there could be warts in my urethra.

I have had only one boyfriend in the past, this was 6 years ago. We had oral sex and there was genital - genital contact. Also had unprotected anal sex twice. There was no vaginal intercourse (technically I am still a virgin).
We broke up, but a year and half later he mailed me to say he has HPV. I got checked for all STD's after that and I was clean.

My question is could I have urethral warts? Can you get urethral warts without having had vaginal intercourse?

What tests do I need to get done?

Genital to Genital contact is a way to transmit HPV, penetration is not required. Anal sex is also a risk.

Your should tell your GYN that you have probably been exposed to the HPV strains that cause genital warts, so that he/she can do a thourough examination. Also, bring up your flow concerns. While urethral warts would affect urine flow, the cause may be unrelated. The flow issue should be resolved though, so I think another doctor's appointment is warranted.

Regarding the bumps that were removed, I would trust your doctors expertise. If they do not look like warts to the doctor, they probably were not warts.

Thanks for the reply.

I saw the doc again as the so called 'warts' have not fallen off. They have turned black though. He says it's not HPV. And that they are not warts as they have no neck.

I have to wait and see if they fall off or not. I plan to try home remedy (apple cider vinegar) if they are not gone!!

Mentioned the urine retention, he says I need a cystoscopy.

What tests can be done to rule out HPV? I've never had vaginal intercourse so if he did a pap smear it would be normal.

Outside of cervical infections, HPV is usually diagnosed through visual examination. I would trust your doctor's diagnosis. Perhaps the  cystoscopy will provide some answers.
