Do high risk HPV strains infect the same areas of skin as low risk?

If a girl has a high risk strain HPV, is the virus found mainly near the cervix or is it also on external skin?  If a guy is carrying the high risk strain, can it be carried on the penis shaft and other external areas?

Thanks for the answers, but I'm assuming there is no low risk (wart) hpv -- just high risk.  I'm wondering if high risk HPV can multiply (live) on external skin -- shaft of penis etc.

It is rare that genital warts will show up on either of you, if the cervix is where the abnormalities are, but, if she developes warts due to cell changes that are visible on the vagina, it is more likely for you both to pass them back and forth. I had a strain of High risk HPV on my cervix, had biopsies done to remove them, then had two normal paps afterwards. When I became pregnant (cell changes) visible warts appeared on my vagina. My hubby shares these strains but has ZERO symptoms. If you two have had unprotected sex, you both share the same strains of HPV. However, the immune system can fight this off in 6 mos-2 years. The strains can go dormant. Hope this helps!
