Does this mean I have high risk HPV?

by Flower2008411, Jul 02, 2009 02:15PM
I am 28 years old female. I was diagnosed have genital warts and chlamydia in Sep of 2008. That was my first time for pap smear test. I didn't know about HPV at all that time. I feel horrible after told I have STD since I was always very careful.

Anyway, I was told I have HPV type 6 and 11(I am sure about these two types, becasue I have genital warts). But I don't remember if the doctor said I have HPV type 16 or 18. Like I said, I didn't know anything about HPV. I didn't know those numbers' meaning at that time. After that I did a lot research of HPV and found out low risk and high risk type. Doctor made the second appointment for me in Oct, 2008 (1 month after first appointment), and did pap smear again and blood test, everything was normal. then I had the third appointment in Jan of 2009, but just got the results from appointment of Oct, 2008, doctor didn't check anything. My fourth appointment is in Aug of 2009. I think I will get my third time pap smear in Aug.

My question is:

1. Does that becasue I have high risk HPV (like 16 or 18), doctor made me those appoinments and pap smear tests so often? Again, I really don't remember that doctor told me whether I had abnormal cell or not last year. My English was poor and I knew nothing about HPV, I couldn't fully understand what doctor said at that time.

2. Does high risk HPV will 100% cause cancer?

Thank you, I really need your help. Thank you.

1) Probably

2) Absolutely not. High risk HPV rarely leads to cancer.
