Endometrial Cells on Pap Smear

I just turned 50 and got results of Pap back that shows Endometrial cells present. My period ended 6 days prior to my Pap being done. My doctor scheduled biopsy for me...I am peri-menopausall have my period pretty much every 28 days to the t, however it is extremely heavy and always has been. I'm extremely nervous about what this all could mean...I wonder if period was recent enough to be cause of these endometrial cells showing up?

Yes, if you are still perimenopausal, you could get endometrial cells on a PAP. They routinely note them on any women over 40 because some women are post-menopausal at that age.

But you should have the biopsy anyway. Better safe than sorry - but just don't imagine you've got something bad.
