Genital Warts Multiplying

Hello, i got diagnosed with genital warts 3 months ago, at this time i got given some warticon cream to apply, to which i did and the few warts got a bit smaller, i was happy, then they started appearing again with my next prescription, but this time there are far more, bigger and all over. im terrified, its just makes me upset all the time as they have never gone just got more and more, is this normal i have now been to the GUM clinic 3 times and they have just given me more warticon which doesnt seem to be doing anything, i feel disgusting. should this happen? i have had the odd one frozen twice with no change, is this forever?

thank you so much

Your bad outbreak may be due to having a bad immune system. Your immune system is the most important part of clearing HPV. Stress, illnesses (even minor colds), smoking and drinking have all been known to aggrivate hpv. Maybe your so stressed about this that it has made your warts worse.

You could try living a healthier lifestyle - sleeping enough, drinking water, excersizing, taking vitamins and generaly staying healthy. You could also try a different form of treatment, it may just be due to the fact the cream you are using is no good for you individually. People react differently to treatments. You should go to the clinic and ask for a different form of treatment, let them know the warticon cream is doing nothing. You could get all of the warts frozen off, and then use podophyllotoxin afterwards. There are also other treatments like lazer, heating, surgery and other creams like aldara which may work better for you.

Also, you have only been doing this for 3 months. Sometimes it takes a while before the cream starts to work and sometimes things have to get worse before they get better. You could leave it a little while longer and see if there is any change.

It is normal for new warts to appear during treatment of old warts. This isn't forever. Despite the fact you will have the virus in your body forever, it usually lays dormant in 2 years. Infact 70% of people 'clear' in 1 year which is uplifting.

A guy cannot be checked to see if he has warts without there being present symptoms at the time. Other symptoms like inflaming of the genitals, burning and itching may indicate a hpv infection BUT they can also indicate many other things.

Lastly, you are not disgusting, don't put yourself down. This is suprisingly common and it can happen to absolutely anyone. As horrible as it is, you will get through it. Fingers crossed you will be in the majority that clear in 2 years.
