Genital warts; confused about how they came

Were a lesbian couple and my gf just got genital warts we have been together for 1 year now. she had one relationship before me but was not very sexually active. However she says there was one time her ex had warts on their hand a few months before we got together. Could it have come from them? and could it have just shown up now?

I have never got warts before but i have been sexually active before her. could i have HPV but with no symptoms which then transmitted to her resulting in warts?

Really just trying to figure out where they came from....

Females can be tested for HPV.  Men cannot be tested. You should assume you have it too and a test will confirm this. Whether you infected her or she infected you is not important and can never be accurately determined. Get tested asap. She should get those warts removed. If you are both young enough to get the vaccine, consider getting it. Both of you should boost up your immune system via: no cigs, reduce alcohol drinking, exercise, multi-vitamins, supplements, reduced stress and more rest.

I'm no doctor but ive pretty much self educated myself on the matter and from what I've read warts on the hand can be passed to genital area though it is rare as the warts have trouble taking to genital skin. It is possible she caught it off her other partner even if she didn't have any symptoms hpv/warts can go months even years without making an appearance. Also it is possible that you have it but have no symptoms but because there is no test for it apart from visual diagnosis its hard to know where it actually came from. Hope this helps.
