Genital warts?

Hello, I recently got STD tested and everything came back normal, however, my gyno noticed small bumps around my perineum, which I have never noticed before. She said they may just be nothing to be concerned of, or they may be HPV. I am a huge hypochondriac and have been worrying ever since. The gyno did not seemed concerned and said just to watch them and return if they enlarge. I was wondering if anyone has any advice about going about this, and what the symptoms of HPV warts are?

Hello,
It can be genital warts. Diagnosis of genital warts is usually clinical, made by visual inspection. Genital warts can be confirmed by biopsy but Sometimes we can use an enhancing technique called acetowhitening. This technique involves the application of 5% acetic acid solution to the area of suspicion for about 5-10 minutes. Infected areas will turn white.
The best method of detecting and diagnosing HPV in women is through a regular pelvic exam and Pap smear. However to detect the strain, Qiagen or hybrid capture test can be done.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

The symptoms are the warts themselves. Why didn't your GYN test you for HPV?  That's the best way to know besides biopsy. If you smoke cigs, this would be a good time to quit as they can result in more warts.
