HPV

I have had HPV and I had the LEEP done and I had a pap smear and it came back abnormal about 8 months to a year ago and I was suppose to have a coposcopy well when I went to have it done at planned parenthood they couldn't find a tool small enough to open my cervix because of scar tissue from my LEEP and I have to wait 15 days now to find out if the pap smear is abnormal since they couldn't do the coposcopy. I am 22 years old and I smoke and I am wondering if anyone knows how likely it was that I would have cervical cancer or have to have a hysterectomy because of it if anyone could please answer the question I would really appreciate it! I am very stressed about this and I guess I just want answers. and want to know if I will be a 22 year old that has to have a hysterectomy and how common that is in women my age with HPV Thank you

Well I just received a call from my doctor about 1 hour ago and my results were that my pap smear came back abnormal and I tested positive for hpv.. i have been happily married for 18 years but about 1 1/2 ago my husband cheated on me. I am so ANGRY that this has happened to me! I still have to go for the coposcopy next month! So until then I have to wonder if these cells are already cancerous or not!!!!!

first of all just relax, i know its hard and i did that same thing when i found out i had HPV....its VERY VERY common, espically in women our age.....8 out of 20 women either have a form of HPV or will have by the time they are 30.......so its very common, dont feel so alone....most of the time HPV can clear up on its own. im in the same boat as you i had the abnormal pap, then they did a colposcopy, and took  a small piece for a biopsy.... now they wanna do a cone biopsy, scary, gotta be put to sleep and stuff.... did they tell you what type of hpv it was?...mild?moderate?severe?... usually after doing these procedures that will watch your cervix, having pap every 3-6 months.....and alot of the time after doing them, women usually start to have normal paps..... so just do the things the doctor tell you .... oh and smoking makes it WAYYY worse.....i know imma smoker myself, well was, been 4 days now. look it up online and do some research on HPV, but dont let it freak you out.... i dont think a hysterectomy should even be an option for you... you can still have childern and everything.....good luck....if you need to  talk im always around!
