HPV Types and how they are passed

Can a person with low-risk HPV (genital warts) pass onto a partner high-risk HPV (the cervical cancer kind) and vice versa?

Yes!  There are over 100 strains of HPV. Approx 60 strains cause warts (low risk) and approx 40 strains can lead to cancer (high risk). Most sexually active adults have multiple strains (low and high).
