Does HPV affect your immune system like HIV? Is it more likely that someone w/ HPV will become sick more often?

I'm not a health care provider but my understanding of HPV is that it's very different than HIV, it does not attack your immune system and as long as you're aware of it and have your doctor keep an eye on it, you're going to be fine.
