HPV and Marriage????

I just noticed wart like objects on the shaft of my penis. I just woke up the other day and there they were, seriously. When my wife was pregnant with our first child they told her she had signs of HPV "A wart".  Since then she has not had a wart or an abnormal pap smear.  Is it possible she has fought this off and I still have it?  Do we need to restrain from sex until I get treated?  Is it possible to pass this back to her if she already had it?  We have been married 4 years and are just now having this problem.

Often during pregnancy there is a flare up of symptoms because the immune system is low to allow the pregnancy. The strains that cause warts are low risk and the strains that cause cell changes are high risk. Only high risk HPV will cause abnormal pap smears. It is possible that your wife's body passed the strain causing her warts and now for some reason you are having symptoms. Stress, low immune system issues can cause this. The two of you share the same strains so you can't bounce it back and forth between you. You should see a dermatologist to confirm this is what you have. While I have warts we are using condoms to help prevent transmission. Even though we share HPV he has never had symptoms and warts are very contagious.
