HPV and the infected location?

If you have for example anal warts, I've been informed that you cannot transmit the virus UNLESS your partner touches your anus.

But what if, you have high risk stains of HPV in your anus, and you have sex, but your partner DOES NOT go near your anus; are you still passing on the high risk HPV strains? So can you pass the high risk HPV strains through your penis to the vagina, even though the high risk strains are within your anus?

you said "Not your from your penis to mouth, but you can get oral HPV from performing oral sex on a partner." There is a contradiction in your point.

So a girl can get hpv in her mouth from someone's penis. AND a girl can pass on hpv from her mouth to the penis. Is this what you meant? So EITHER way, "penis to mouth" + "mouth to penis" you can get HPV???????

I also read HPV does not spread kissing. I'M SO SORRY, I'm making so many messages, i will save it on a note and then message them all in one go. xxx

Sometimes the skin near my anus feels weird, I'm taking every precaution to remain clean and to knowledge myself on hpv. I don't feel ready to date due to this experience. I get an itch now and then, so i'm just waiting to feel more clean, i know my hpv 20 strains were negative, and the warts are gone, but i just wanna feel clean. i wanna make sure my immune system has destroyed it all, as the fear of reinfection in some ppl freaks me out, as i cld have caught anything and many strains of hpv from that enema. NO VIRGIN gets WARTS deep in their ANUS! it's the enema, it's logically acceptable it is the enema.

thnx for the support, please do understand my situation. It was a brownish colour, eeeeew! please read the above messages, i explain why it was not supposed to be brown! eeeeek arrr man, the flash backs are sick! :( xxxxx

Sorry, I should combine all my points in one message nxt time! I forgot to add, the thought of the dirty enema being re-used on so many ppl, has caused me to panic. especialyl since later my anus was so itchy, and so sore for a year and a half. it disgusts me, i'm sure it wld to any other person who was in my position.

also, my anus itches now and then a bit, and feels weird = makes me more paranoid, when i think about the moment the way the enema was put in me. please understand, the doctor did confirm they were warts, he was a GUM clinic specialist in london.

The doctor even said sorry, and apologised. He ignored my emails for a long time until I made it clear I was fed up when I rang up!

No dude my confidence is ok now dude.

Evidence: Well the enema was a unclear brown colour. I rang up asked, and they said enemas are white, plus they sterlise it.

Thus: The enema was re-used to such a high extent it caused the colour to fade. This is why I have been paranoid.

Thanks for the links. They mentioned that some people's immune systems could clear out the infection totally according to: "Recent studies from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and from the University of Washington suggest that HPV may eventually be cleared, or rooted out altogether, in most people with well-functioning immune systems." I hope this is true, as the idea of having HPV for life, is scary.

Also it mentioned on skin infection, the skin that is infected causes transmission. So on that one I'm ok! The prostitutes did not touch my anus or butt cheeks. Nor did they finger themselves! But even "if they had touched my anus and fingered themselves" the transmission would not take place, very highly unlikely from "genital to hand to gential" transmission, as it requires direct contact, not through the hand, though possible but highly unlikely.

Also, I might get the HPV vaccine for guys too, even though I had warts, I could stop the other strain or so from spreading just in case.

Oh and KISSING (SNOGGING) does not pass on HPV right????

Thanks for the links buddy. x

Before you ask any more questions, could you answer one?

What proof do you have that the doctor's equipment was unsterilized?
Even if it wasn't sterilized, which I doubt, the risk of acquiring HPV this way is really low.

It seems like you have some circular reasoning here. The bumps were warts because the equipment was unsterilized and the equipment was unsterilized because the bumps were warts.

In either case, your worry isn't appropriate for such a common, and harmless (warts) disease.

Nearly everybody who is sexaully active gets HPV. In fact, 20-30% of people have active HPV at any given time.

But people don't get HPV, in any significant numbers, through objects.

You have had a couple of "all clears" from your doctors, but you choose to worry about the very slight chance that you had HPV to begin with, and if you did, that you still have it.

Get on with your life. Date. And if you are this worried about STDs, stay away from prostitutes.

You said earlier that you weren't dating because of confidence issues. Are you sure that HPV isn't just an excuse to stay away from that scene?

Not your from your penis to mouth, but you can get oral HPV from performing oral sex on a partner. It isn't as common as genital HPV, but it exists. Oral skin is similar to genital skin, this probably explains the risk.

All the information you need is on these two websites.

Thank for the answer. So you can transmit gential HPV to the mouth through your penis; but rarely does the mouth ever have warts.

I thought only genetial HPV can be passed on to the genitals of your partner, as the mouth area cannot be affected by genital HPV? Could you extend on this confusion of mine?

The infected area thing, well I'm cool with it now, as I know my penis was not infected, only anus, due to the enema. So the prostitutes in Amsterdam are highly likely to be FINE! :) Point clarified...

Plus the towel does not transfer HPV from my anus to my penis when I use it to dry myself. :)

Penis to mouth...for sure. But not that common.

Mouth to penis is probably less common.

To transmit HPV you need to have direct contact with infected skin. That should answer your question.

I really think you are stressing for nothing.

Thanks for the 2 links you sent me, about HPV. It answered my point on the towel issue, so I can be rest assured that HPV is NOT transferred from towel use i.e. by rubbing towel with infected anal area, and then rubbing it over penis. And my HPV is gone has warts are gone, test was negative, and the body fights it off. :)

It might take me more time to stop using a separate towel for my anus though. Paranoid, mental issue here.

You said on my other post: "But assuming that you have HPV.... I don't think people with a recent wart diagnosis should have sex without informing their partners. This would include prostitutes. If your HPV infection was limited to your anus, there would be no risk at all, unfortunately, it is impossible to know what skin is infected. You also used a condom, which greatly reduces the risk of transmission. So any risk you posed to the prostitutes was minimal"

* I was a virgin, no kissing, no oral, nothing: so I know my only infected area was my anus as my warts were inside my anus (enema being my suspicion of cause). Therefore this means "I cannot pass HPV on to the women through my penis, as the infected area was my anus, which they didn't touch." DO CLARIFY ME ON THIS; I need to make sure I'm right on this point, it will help clear up some more questions!

ALSO: does anyone fully know if HPV can travel from the penis to the mouth, or VICE versa during a blowjob? This one is a bit unclear.

xxxxxxx I won't pester you any longer lol :)

Those website's your talking about don't know what their talking about because your bodies immune system kicks HPV out of the body, new research and tests show that this is so,what these websites are going off of is old information that is clearly wrong.

But I'm confused, other sites say, HPV is carried for life, you should tell your partners. I think they are wrong, as if it was for life, I'm sure everyone would have had multiple strains of HPV and we will all be infected all the time etc etc. I think the old research is misinforming people i.e. saying we're infected for life, which is not true what I found out here, and some other sites backed this site too...

Please understand, my enema experience is scarring. Especially when an invasive product is re-used on multiple people!! Ewwwwwwwwwwwww! I do get scared thinking, but what if I had the other 20 strains of HPV, the ones I was NOT tested for, as there are about 40 hpv strains that are sexually transmitted, as I was tested for 20 strains only. I'm sure the enema is the cause, no way can I get warts deep in my anus, being a virgin, I mean total virgin! But I'm recovering mentally, slowly!

*****My anus still feels weird sometimes, like I explained, whilst showering or training; deep down in my anus, the surface of my anus, and the skin near the butt cheeks close to my anus etc feels weird now and then, especially when I train or shower. Feels itchy a bit, dry etc, why? Any idea? Is this a sign of HPV still lurking in my anus? i know i came out negative for 20 hpv strains, but I'm thinking what if I have some of the strains of the other 20 hpv strains that i was not tested, that can be transmitted sexually? Please answer this little bit, I feel a bit confused and concerned. *******

*******Dude you sure, the prostitutes are most likely ok, as the HPV was in my anus, which they didn't touch! So it is highly likely they did not catch it from me? I was only infected in my anus, not penis etc. I hope rubbing the towel on my anus, and then on my penis did not transmit the virus????********

*****It's also rare to get HPV from oral sex? Let's say I have HPV on my penis, (showing no symptoms) and a girl gives me a blowjob without a condom, then is she likely to get HPV too in her mouth through that means? I know mouth warts are RARE, but will the HPV transmit to her mouth by sucking a penis that shows no symptoms but has HPV?****

The **** 3 bits **** are my main last enquiries. Hope to hear from you, could you please specifically answer the ***3 bits*** and the questions within them (without sound rude lol).... x

Thanks for the support again! x I feel better, and am researching more on this site. x

The time applies to everybody. Six months after the warts disappear with or without treatment.

But that is assuming you had warts to begin with.

Any time frame it is just an estimate anyway. There is no guarantee that HPV is gone six months later. It could be much earlier, it could be later....it just that it seems highly unlikely that you would be contagious after six months.

Like I said earlier, you could always explain what happened to your future girlfriend. Let her decide if the risk is acceptable. I think this is a better choice than putting off a girl you might be interested in.

It is impossible to quantify the risk of spreading HPV, but I don't think it is really high in your case. Your doctor thought the risk was low as well.

You think I don't need to wait? I know I tested negative, and the doctor in October said I had no warts, nothing. But 2 months before in August I was told I had 4 warts inside my anus. So, lets say, it took another 2 months to get cleared up, so starting from October, should I not wait for 6 months after it, thus up until April? As I've read it's best to hold out for 6 months to clear out the infection for good?

6 months waiting period ONCE warts are GONE or FROZEN OFF? Am I correct? Once people have their warts frozen off it is advisable they wait 6 months to clear the infection or does that apply to people like me, whose warts go away by themselves or does it apply to both?

Thanks for the support. I guess I'm clear, but I just feel a bit uneasy, my anus feels weird; maybe it's just me. After I shower in particular, the anus on the surface and from the inside feels weird and the skin around the anus (skin near inner side of butt cheeks next to anus). Maybe it's just me. I get this feeling now and then during the week too, and also when I train. What do you think?

But I guess if all results were fine, I shouldn't worry. x

There are no guarantees with HPV. So if you are asking if it is impossible to spread HPV if  you have anal warts, the answer is no However, your doctor used professional judgement to give you an opinion. This is worth more than non-professionals parroting what we have read. Often doctors will answer using common sense and high probability instead of absolute possibility.

Anyway, you have tested negative for HPV, its probably gone if it was ever there to begin with. I don't think that you need to wait. If you are concerned, explain your situation to the girl and let her decide if the risk is appropriate.

Thanks for the response. I think it's highly unprofessional for a doctor to say it's ok to have sex whilst having warts. I asked him, is it ok, he said yea, but of course use protection. I asked if I'm infectious and could I pass it on, he said no. I asked if I have to tell my partners, he said no. Arrrr, he should have said in my opinion, "Wait until the warts are gone, wait for a few months for infection to clear, use protection, then you're back to normal."

But yea, now I know, and am waiting to date :), even though my HPV infection test came out negative for all the 20 strains that I was tested for, and the 2nd doctor said nothing was present in my anus. I'm still waiting! :) Best to.

I only went to Amsterdam to get an opinion on my penis size etc, my testicles and all are small due to opreation, plus the I spoke to them, and they seemed nice in personality wise lol. Usually guys treat them as ******, lol. But I regret losing my virginity. But yea, they were nice women lol. xx

Ok, without sounding callace, you had sex with PROSTITUTES! NOT the nice girl who lives next door! They have chosen their lifestyle and Im certain have more than one HPV infection, condoms are only 70% effective, they have sex for a living, with many different ppl, chances of them having an STD thats aquired thru skin contact is high. Not that this means "who cares!", just that this means you didnt know any better and they put themselves at risk thru their work. So dont beat yourself up about it.
You can have anal itching for many reasons, I get tears, so I have itching, but I dont have warts. I seriously doubt that you had warts! I would go with all this info to a doctor- being a virgin and not fooling around and the enema and ask for their opinion.
I was told that bumps I had looked like warts (a few months ago), I went back to the same doctor, who then said...actually "no warts, I wasnt sure to start with!"...all that stress and worry for nothing !!(I had a new BF-who I have since told and is supportive and amazing about it!).

Thanks all.

I had anal itching for a year, starting from Sep 2008. I had tests done, all came out negative. Then in Aug 2009 one doctor looked inside my anus and said I had 4 tiny warts. In Oct 2009, I did HPV tests and another anal check from a 2nd doctor and he said there were no warts and HPV strains came out negative.

So I'm assuming, my warts were around for a year, and after their late diagnosis in Aug 2009, they disappeared within 2 months by the time I saw the 2nd doctor in Oct 2009. I had sex in Amsterdam in Aug 2009 after seeing the 1st doctor; who said it was ok when I told him where I'm going and what I'll be doing.

So now it has been 2 months since I saw the 2nd doctor who said I have no warts and the HPV results were negative. To fulfil the 6 month gap of being wart free, I have 4 months to wait up until April. :)

Everybody understand my scenario?

One doctor on this forum said, the 2 year gap starts from the point of transmission of HPV, and also once the warts go away it's good to wait for 6 months + before having sex.

Thanks for the advice; I truly regret having sex with prostitutes as at the time I had warts confirmed by the doctor. He said it was ok to have sex. But on this site it's best to wait until they're gone. I never knew that, but now I do, and I feel guilty. Luckily the prostitutes did not go near my anus and plus condoms are used strictly in Amsterdam for oral too, and I was not allowed to kiss or give oral, except suck their breasts.

Let me know of your views from this reply of mine. xx

PLEASE: I was told by doctor it was ok to have sex, I never knew at the time; he thought it must have been ok as he said my 4 warts were tiny and deep in my anal, and he knew I was not doing any anal practice.

The enema, I'm sure it was alexdelong, I'm sure it was...

So you had warts for 2months? This does not sound like warts, they do not just come and go in such a short space of time, and they are so unlikely to be passed thru objects.
If they where warts (which I doubt) I doubt you would be contagious now.
I would get a second opinion.
Good luck!

Like I said in your other post there is a good chance that you never had HPV and the doctor was mistaken about the wart diagnosis.

But even if you had HPV, the warts are gone, so you are not likely to be contagious.

AND nearly everybody gets at least one strain of HPV anyway. It is rarely serious.

You are overly concerned about passing a virus that everybody gets.. And honestly, if you are this concerned about STDs, having sex with prostitutes is a better way of acquiring them than being examined by a doctor. Like I said in the last post, I am sure any equipment used by the doctor was sterilized meaning there was absolutely no risk. Furthermore, HPV is ALMOST NEVER transmitted through an indirect object.

When you ask questions like "is it possible" the answer is probably going to be yes.
Is it likely? Probably not. Your doctor doesn't seem to think that you risk transmitting the virus, so why not trust the only expert that has given you advice and let it go.

I never kissed anyone, not even a sexual touch in any way. I'm sure it was the enema. It was re-used, and I feel so dirty. I'm petrified that I may have had multiple strains, but 20 came out negative. I NEVER dated due to embarassment of small penis and testicles dude. I had no friends due to depression, and I never ever even held a girl's hand, until now where I do salsa lol.

:( Now i have over-come my worries, and now the HPV has taken over. I am going clinically insane over thought of god know's what i may have got from the enema being re-used. I've come out negative for 20 hpv stains, all STI's except HS1 which is common. But doctor said i did have warts which were diagnosed 2 months before the hpv test. On the day of the hpv test, the doctor looked and said the warts were gone. I had 4 in total.

But in one bit it said, that if HPV is in my anus, then transmission is not possible unless my anal area is touched? I'm so confused now. It's ruined my first year of uni, I'm not dating anyone in fear of passing it on. I'm waiting for second year, as it will be over 9 months since my warts would have disappeared when september 2010 comes.

It is HIGHLY unlikely to get HPV any other way than skin to skin contact, you CANNOT get it from surfaces and towels.
If you touched your genitals then strait away touched someone elses there is a chance, but generally it is a DIRECT SKIN TO SKIN infection. If you have warts on your anus, there is a chance that the entire area is infected so condoms should be used. But going as far as using different towels for different parts of your body is silly, as the virus is in your body already, it can manifest where it pleases!
You say you where a virgin BUT did you engage in heavey petting...ie foreplay where genitals may have come in contact, that could have been how you got infected. If not, I doubt very much you have warts, go for a second opinion!!!
