HPV infection still active if I have cancer possibly from HPV?

I am a male and if I was recently diagnosed with anal cancer and it so happened to arise from the rare cause of HPV would the HPV infection still be active? I ask this because I am currently sexually active (always uses condoms) and was wondering if the cancer came from HPV should I still be worried about spreading into onto my partner?
