My g/f just recently was told she has HPV during her routineRoutine sputum culturepapPap smear Pap smears and cervical cancer smear. She says that her doctor told her that its not a serious strand and that she is not contagious. She was told that it could have lay in her system undetected for awhile and something set it off. Is this possible or am I still at risk of infection? She has no warts or any other symptoms.
If she has and active HPV infection, she is likely contagious. As long as it is not the strainStrains that causes warts, it will not affect you. YOu likley have (or have had) an HPV infection as well. It will go away within a few months without causing any problems.
You need to find out if she (and more than likely you too.. plus you don't know/never will who gave it to who) have low risk/warts OR high risk/increased risk of certain cancers. Doctors tend to dismiss HPv because it's SO commonCommon cold (about 80% of sexually active pple have it and never know it... and 90% of the pple who get it naturally suppress/clear the virus from 6 months to 2yrs)
High risk HPV in men RARELY cause any health issues..you should just ALWAYS listen to your body (whether you have hpv or not)
Your girlfriend should be eating healthy (leafy greens..spinach/kale and brite veggies..sweet potato/carrots), no smoking/drinking (use condom if YOU smoke especially), exercise, reduce stress, take multi vit w/ folic acid (800mg to 1200 mg per day) and L-Lysine ( both supplements rec. by ,y gyn..they help in the production and maintenace of cell and the removal of damaged cells.
Don't worry, HPV won't do anything bad to you or to her.
