HPV on hands?

Can HPV be transmitted through genital to hand to genital contact? From reading the expert STD forum, this type of sex would be considered safe, but is it actually free of such HPV transmission? And if not, how likely is the transmission?

Thank you for your answer. I know a health professional who recounts that they have seen someone with extensive (and large) HPV warts on their hands and who claims that contraction was through genital contact. This would seem to imply that there is some risk. I am trying to understand if this is just a rare, isolated case, a significant probability associated with this type of sexual contact, or an incorrect diagnosis on the part of the patient.

I would say its either an isolated case or that type of transmitting is very very rare.

From my understanding, and from the infomation on this site, HPV on the hands is a different strain to HPV on the genitals.

There is a very rare case in which HPV lies under the nails of the hand. It is so rare, that not enough is known about it, like if there is enough of the HPV under the nails to be able to trasmit to other areas etc
