Hello,
This irritated cervix could have been due to trauma and inflammation. Regarding HPV, Many a times only a swab test is not enough to know whether there is active infection or not. Laboratory tests which should be conducted include: culture of the virus, direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) studies to detect virus, skin biopsy, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to test for presence of viral DNA and antibody test.
