HPV question

My girlfriend found out about 5 years ago that she had HPV and hasn't had an outbreak in years.  While she was pregnant this year, we had engaged in sex and she was later told that when your pregnant, chances for outbreaks are increased.  The question that I have now is, several months later, I have a very small raise bump on the shaft of my penis and I wanted to know if this could be from her HPV?  The bump is small and can not be seen but it could be felt.  There is no discharge and is colorless.  I did see a doctor and he seems to think that it is a "skin tag".  If my girlfriend had an outbreak without knowing, could this be related to it?

We have been monogomous in our relationship.  She told me out her HPV several years ago but has not had any signs or symptoms.  When I went to the doctor, he looked at it, felt it and said it was a skin tag,  He didn't take much time to exam it and it just worries me that it might be from the HPV.  She was told by her OBGYN that an outbreak chances might increase with her being pregnant.  What kind of Dr. should I see?  A urologist or a dermatology doctor?

if ur girl had HPV on her cervix this type does not cause warts.Cervical HPV and genital wart HPV are caused by diff strains but she could have both.to ease ur mind have ur doc refer u to a dermatologist.

To: HPV when could the initial infection be?
I just had a PAP smear done and they did a test for HPV also and it came out positive.I have been married for 14 years and been faithful and before that I never had vaginal sex, only anal and oral with one partner.

The other clinic who took my first couple pap smears in the span of 2-6  years ago did not do that test.So I dont have a clue when I was trully positive.

I wonder if my hubby is the carrier? We havent roll out that one yet.
If he is not the carrier, when could the initial infection occured?

Hi there,

By rule of thumb, the loger you go without an outbreak, the less likely it is to happen again! Some ppl have a recurrence, but generally once theyv been gone for more than a year its not likely they will come back...I know ppl who had one occurance 13yrs/8yrs and myself 2,5yrs ago!!! Chances of a recurrance is higher when the immune system is low, ie during a strong disease or during pregnancy, but often after a long period like 5yrs the immune system has a good hold over suppressing an outbreak by this stage...so it does happen, but its not the norm! Assuming your GF had vissible warts, if their wer non present during her pregnancy, the chances of it being transmitted to you are virtually zero! Given that the doctor a qualified health specialist has said it is a skin tag, NOT a wart, Id believe him...go for a second opinion if it will make you feel better.
At the end of the day, even if it is warts, 80% of ppl have one type or another, some show symptoms, others dont, the virus clears within 2yrs and they are harmless (the wart causing strands). You are in a serious, monogomous relationship, you have a baby so Im assuming a future together...so I wouldnt see it as a big deal.

PS: To iag...HPV can lie dormont in your system for years, it could have been a partner 20yrs ago, it could be your husband...there is no way to know!
