HPV.....confused

by acer9410, May 10, 2009 10:49AM
Hello,

I would like to know if you have oral sex with a person that has HPV you will get infect in your mouth or genital HPV ? I didn't but if you give it to a person with HPV ?
What about kissing or using the same bathroom (toilet, shower)?
Also is possible if i insert my fingers in her vagina ,i will get HPV om my hands, under my nails or any other kind of HPV and i could infect other people if i touch them or myself?
I know condoms are not 100% safe but i could get infect it too if she has HPV ?( we had sex just 1 time) or depends of what kind of HPV she got? ( she had cervical cancer 1 year ago and didn't have sex for 1 year now her Doctor says she has HPV )

Please help with this to be clear.I'm worry and nervous.
Thank you in advance.

Dr. Hook answered most of these questions before. He is an expert, you should trust his judgement. A layperson may disagree, but it does not make them right.

Like alll others on this community forum, I am not an expert. I will answer your questions to the best of my understanding, but I think you already have you answers and are over reacting.

HPV cannot be transmitted by fingering.
HPV cannot be transmitted by using the same toilet or shower.
I have never heard of kissing being described as a risk for spreading HPV.

HPV can be spread through oral sex, although it is less common than through genital to genital contact, and rarely has negative concequences.
HPV can be spread through protected sex if the condom breaks, or more likely to an area not covered by the condom.

You shouldn't worry. Nearly everbody gets at least one strain of HPV in their lives. Assuming this was not your first sexual encounter, it is likely that you have been exposed to HPV before, and will be exposed again. It is unavoidable for sexually active people. Fortunately, HPV rarely causes problems, especially for men.
