HVP and cervix inflammation and test results

I recently had a normal pap and hvp positive. However, prior to the exam I informed my dr. that I had sex within the 24 hours prior to exam.  Also, told him that I felt like I had a UTI and yeast infection.  He said I had neither.  My symptoms were frequent urination and very slight itch.  About a week after, I had spotting. Went to another dr. I was diagnosed with a UTI and yeast infection/bacteria.  My question is if I had a UTI, yeast infection, sex prior to exam could it interfere with test results?  Also, I tested negative for chlamydia and gonnerah (sp).
