It is true but not worth fearing. Most HPV that people get is high risk kind. In most cases the body clears it within 24 months without the person realizing it.
no they really didnt say much of anything just that it was a mild case of hpv and it turned into a severe case. i am going to have to have a cone or a leep done where there gonna take part of my cervix out. has anyone had that done whats the recovery
i think it's pretty normal that someone's HPV status goes from mild to severe then go back to mild, etc. Just think it this way..
me for example, and a lot of people who have genital warts out there, do they grow genital warts all the time? Nope. Only once every few weeks to few months. Means if today i grow genital wart and i take care of it, the next days i won't get recurrence. Next few months i might have new warts reappearing.
Now if we think with logic, when someone has visible genital warts, and it can be tested, then obviously this is where the status is "severe", right? Where when you dont have any visible wart, then your status should be "mild". I think it's the same with any viral activity, you can go from mild to severe then go back to mild, it's all about the fighting status between the virus and your antibody.
Just wait and stay healthy. It should be OK in 2 years
I'm not sure if you saw my above post or not but the answers to that may be helpful and whether you have had children or not. Have you had a colposcopy and biopsy or did they just decide to go straight to a cone biopsy. It appears you may be having a LEEP. If it were me I would have a colposcopy with regular biopsy first to find out if there was any true dysplasia. A cone is a little more invasive
and they take a cone shaped specimen from your cervix. Do you know what your Pap result was? And if you had a colposcopy with biopsy, do you know what the result was?
It appears my first comment disappeared.
I’m not sure if you saw the above but the answers may be helpful and if you have had children or not. Did you have a colpcoscopy and biopsy first or did they decide to go straight to a cone? Do you know what the results were to your Pap and colposcopy if you had one. If it were me I would have a colposcopy first before the cone/LEEP as the cone is a little more invasive. The new thought is that in women under 35 and those that have not had children, they try to be less aggressive with LEEP’s.
I’m going to ask you a lot of questions and I hope you can answer them.
When did you get your first Pap?
When did you get your first abnormal Pap?
Did you find out that you had abnormal cells from your Pap, or your colposcopy?
Do you have symptoms such as pain or bleeding?
Do you happen to know what your colposcopy results are? If not can you get them?
Was your first colposcopy longer than 24 months ago?
Are you seeing an OB/Gyn Dr.?
First they are not supposed to be doing Paps or HPV tests in women under 21 in the US. There is virtually no cancer found in your age group. There is a high incidence of HPV that usually clears. In 2009 they changed the recommendation to no Paps until 21 regardless if you were sexually active. The reason is too many LEEP’s were being done which could cause harm with an incompetent cervix when you become pregnant (sometimes not all the time).
Maybe you can answer these questions and if I were you I would definitely get a second opinion before I had a LEEP. Find out what another Dr. says and ask if you could just have a repeat Pap and maybe colposcopy in 6 months.
Good Luck
i had my first pap test done when i was 18 bc my family doctor would not give me birth control unless i ahd one done even though i was not sexually active at that time i just wanted the birth control because i was only having a period like 1 time every 6 months and it was hurting like hell. that was also my first abnormal pap i have never had a normal one it is also when they told me i had hpv and that i needed to go to a gyno. i went to my first gyno who did a colyposcopy bout last january he took 8 bioposys at one time. and when i went back to him he told me i needed to have a cone done. i didnt like him i thought he was rude and after i had the bioposys taken i started to have problems with my ovaries when i asked him about my concerns his answer was i didnt do anything to affect your ovaries so i changed gynos this one i like alot better he checked my ovaries didnt see anything but said he will keep an eye on things did a full pelvic exam and also did my second colyposcopy which he only took one small bioposy. and it still came back severe dysplaisa thats all they have told me about the bioposys and he suggested a leep which i had done yesterday. i dont usually experience pain or bleeding unless it has to do with sex but my ovaries still have sharp pains go thru them alot. my gyno said he will check them again at my next visit.
Good luck with your recovery. You are very young to be experiencing these problems. I think if I were you when you have recovered, I would pick up all my records and then go and get a consult with a gynecological oncologist. I am not suggesting that you have cancer, actually you do not but this type of Dr. is a real specialist in this area and I think you may need this type of specialist to sort out your problems. I would also try to find a female one, if she can't help you then she will send you to someone that will. Some of the testing that you had done are against the current guidelines in the US.
All the best...
problem with health industry is that not everyone is credible enough.
Some doctors are stupid, some others are experts. This is exactly why you have to know which one you are dealing with. I've been to 2 doctors from STD clinics and met 5 dermatologists and I can tell you only 2-3 of them have detailed knowledge about genital warts and HPV.
I believe it has something to do with their "laziness". Old doctors who don't read newest medical journals won't even know how to do proper tests against HPV. obviously what their institution teach them about HPV in 1995, 2000, and 2005, and now 2010-11 are not the same.
I highly suggest you to go ask people around you, ask them which specialist can be trusted and have tons of experience and knowledge, and you go to that doctor.
