I had unprotected sex with my new girlfriend in July. A few months later I developed a discolored spot on my glans. I read that vinegar would expose hpv as well as anything else. So i soaked the area in vinegar, the spot did not react but every where else did in long crisscross patterns. The skin then dried out cracked and washed away in less than 3 days, since then the vinegar does not cause a reaction, the spot is still there but will not react. There is no pain no itch. Does hpv always react to vinegar?

It had been a year and some months (all protected) since I had a sexual encounter prior to July(my first unprotected encounter ever), I know it's possible i carried a disease for a year with no symptoms but it seems too coincidental that this appeared after the events in July. (these lesions i am talking about did not appear till september however i had other flu like symptoms two weeks after the july incounter which may or may not be related to these lesions, yes i am aware that hpv does not cause flu like symptoms, the warts could be a secondary infection brought about by the supression of the immune system by the one that caused the flu like symptoms)The cream is nystatin with some steroid which I can't remember the name of. I have also compared the lesions to many many pictures of fungal and yeast infections and I have also personally seen these infections first hand and mine no not look anything like them... Doesn't really look like warts either though, but I read that warts can manifest in many many appearances.

if it's been 5 months straight without itch/pain, i think it's obviously not herpes infection. Indeed a wart is the possible answer here but you have to keep in mind genital wart usually appear after 3-6 months after exposure, not immediately. If what you have is really wart, then most likely you were infected months before that July sex session.

I would say a fungal/yeast infection is very possible too. Have you checked his cream? What is the name of the cream? Because there are tons of fungal infection out there and different cream might work differently for each fungal category

You misunderstood my symptoms have lasted 5 months straight, no on and offs just five months straight.  And it did react to vinegar once... It just won't react to it again, but there are accompanying symptoms that may or may not be related that lead me to believe it may not be hpv as hpv is usually symptomless besides the appearance of warts and rarely itching and burning(which I don't have) and my lesions don't appear as typical warts, more like a group of lighter colored plaques.

Sorry i didnt know it's been 5 months. Indeed 5 months after latest sexual encounter would be a bit unusual for herpes sores to show up, also you didnt feel any pain/sore, but have you ever been tested? If you been tested at 4 months (blood test IGG) then I can totally confirm you dont have HSV.

Thing about fungus/yeast infection is, if you use anti fungal cream on it, it should disappear within a week. If your condition got way better after several days (but then it reappeared instantly), then it could still be a fungal infection.

BUT, if the condition NEVER got any better (at all) within 1 week, then obviously it's not fungal infection. The cream didn't work, in other words..

So if we rule out these possibilities, i believe it might be just an allergic reaction or some minor infection. It could be wart also but a wart should react to vinegar. The reason why vinegar testing is not reliable is because other bumps would also react to vinegar. In other words, vinegar testing could provide false positive result BUT it's more unlikely to give false negative (just like IGG herpes blood test).

It's confusing indeed so you might want to visit another specialist and force him/her to get a biopsy on you.

It is definately not hsv... It's been 5 months, and I am healthy...or was, no hsv out break should last that long in a healthy person.  But my symptoms are so bizarre it could be anything. And THATwas my second opinion... Really the medical community in my area is so incompetent that I wouldn't seek any further help from here ever again after how I have been treated and what I have witnessed. In a few months I will get retested if I am once again clean I'll just assume it is a mild outbreak of hpv, and be thankful its not something more serious. Thanks for the advice.

Im not sure about yeast infection but a fungus infection should go away within a week. Apparently your doctor misdiagnosed your issue. It's quite possible for a derm to misdiagnose skin issues. You might want a 2nd opinion from another derm. You should get a biopsy instead of just visual diagnosis by a doctor because there are tons of very similar cases when it comes to very tiny little spots on your genital skin. I.e. it's very common for a doctor to misdiagnose tiny molluscum for wart or folliculitis or wart or even fungal infection for HSV, etc. etc. The best solution is to usually get a 2nd opinion and get a biopsy test.

I did go see a specialist by the way he said it was yeast or a fungus... How ever it does not itch or burn or really do anything, I told him about the reaction to acetic acid and he had never even heard of it. Gave me some cream.. Two weeks no results yet

HPV likely to react to vinegar, but a lot of other bumps also react to vinegar. You must go ask a specialist to ask what are those spots

I would not recommend using vinegar.  The way to 'expose' HPV is to have a test for it, simple as that.

I would not recommend that you use ANY kind of substance on this area of your anatomy as it may exacerbate the area and cause inflammation.

What I would recommend is that you visit a GUM clinic or a doctor.

Best wishes
