I've been told a few things by someone I know who is also posistive for genital warts (hpv) and couldn't find the answer on line anywhere...
First is, she told me that you only get actual warts once in your life.. like hpv is still in your dna, but you don't get reoccuring outbreaks like herpes. True?
Second, she said that some forms of genital warts can disappear completely from your dna, meaning you can no longer spread them.. I wish... true?
Third, after what amount of time does hpv become less likely to spread?
Once you get warts, it is possible to get them again. However, after a few months of not having any, the odds of having them again becomes increasingly low.
Scientists are not in full agreement whether or not the virus is completely removed from the body, or whether it just becomes dormant. In either case, the likelihood of spreading the virus becomes highly unlikely. Additionally, even our most sophisticated testing devices cannot detect the hpv virus, which may demonstrate that the body has in fact cleared the virus.
Research suggests that the immune system will clear the virus within 1 - 2 years... Although, there are some people who seem to have symptoms for longer periods of time, however this is rare. If you are wart free for a period of 6 months, you can be relatively certain the chance of spreading the virus is low at best.
