If this isn't HPV, then what could it be?

I'm very confused right now. For the past 3 years I have been breaking out in my vagina area with these tiny bumps that feel like moles. And about a year ago they began to appear in my anus are. I've received LOTS of pap smears and ALL of them come back normal. I recently just had a baby and my OBGYN tested me for HPV and it came back negative. The really odd thing about all of this (other than the fact that these doctor' say they look like genital warts but all the test keep coming back normal) is that all these doctor's keep prescribing external cream that is used for genital and then they go away. Any ideas of what this could be? Also, I am currently very short on cash right now so I can't see a doctor and I'm in the middle of another "breakout" and I have this topical cream called Bactroban, will this cream clear up these "bumps"?

Thanks in advance!

I don't really understand why they are doing paps for warts, because low risk HPV's which cause warts are never usually detected in a pap...

Paps test for high risk HPV which do not cause wart symptoms, but cell changes instead and that can lead to cervical cancer.

If the wart treatment you are using is treating these bumps, my guess is they are warts. Warts are diagnosed via visual analysis. Maybe it's to do with different countries, but I just find the whole pap thing very odd! I suggest going to a specialist in STDs and asking them to look at these suspected warts.

That cream is for impetigo so it will not clear the bumps if they are warts. However there is a lot of confusion surrounding what these bumps are. Was this cream prescribed to you for the bumps?

Actually this cream was prescribed to my mother for impetigo, but I thought "Hey, maybe it will work on these bumps." I have had 2 different doctors take an actual LOOK at these things and both said (and they are both from completely different offices and I didn't tell either one what the other one thought it was) and BOTH said the same EXACT THING! They said they WANT TO say it's HPV but the bumps look NOTHING LIKE warts, they both said they look like skin tags (i.e. moles). But they both went ahead and prescribed me topicals that treat warts and they went away! That's what is making all of this so confusing! But thanks for your response :>)

Ahh, very confusing then! My best guess is they are warts, seeing as the wart treatment got rid of them! See a different Dr and ask them to do a biopsie, which will show if the mole holds the HPV DNA, it's the only way

I will do that Amie, thanks for the advice! I always have weird stuff happening to me lol. I've been trying to tell my (soon to be ex) husband that he most likely has HPV but he doesn't believe me because he doesn't have these "bumps". I've tried explaining to him that not everyone has outbreaks, that's why 85% of americans have HPV and MOST don't even know it. Which also makes it VERY hard to know WHO you got it from. When I FIRST went to the Doctor about these and he mentioned HPV, I was BAWLING and I just kept thinking "I'm going to kill _____(my husband)", until I researched all about HPV and realized I MAY have had this for YEARS and I MIGHT HAVE given it to HIM! But I'm still hoping they are just skin tags. I'm switching OBGYN's and hopefully I will find out what these TRULY are soon! Thanks again for helping me out with your advice! Have a wonderful day!
