Ineffective Cryotherapy?

Ineffective Cryotherapy?

May 2006 I received an abnormal PAP.  A colposcopy and biopsy was done, and it was determined that I was positive for HPV, with mild dysplasia.  I had the option to receive cryotherapy, or to wait to see if the condition would clear up on its own.

I chose to have the cryotherapy.  Recently, I followed up, and received another abnormal PAP, and a letter from my doctor stating that I may possibly have LGSIL.  Another colposcopy has been scheduled.

I have had a full panel of STD screenings, and other than HPV, all are normal.

My questions are two fold.
1.)  Was having the cryotherapy jumping the gun?  All previous PAP tests (faithfully done annually) were normal up to this point and
2.)  Should I be concerned that I have an exceptionally persistent strain of HPV and have the cryotherapy again?

do u have a new partner than from 2006?HPV will clear the body in 6-12 mos.acc.to the docs under the Experts Forum. It then lies dormant in the body and u cannot catch the same strain. If u r re-xposed to a  new strain u will get it.I had CIN 12-06.had the  colp, bio and cryo.pap 6-07 showed HPV.Another colp.I had one partner in 10 years.Had LEEP 8-07 and follow up pap 12-07 showed no hpv cells but i have to return every 4 mos. for a year and if clean i can go a year.I haven't had sex since 9-06 which is fine by me and my doc said abstinence will guarantee not picking up a new strain. If ur doc is telling u to have the cryo have it,it is the only way to get the bad cells off there!
