Kind of confused..

What are the likelihood chances of developing pearly penile papules and genital warts at the same time? It just doesn't sound like coincidental.

The first time i noticed my "lesions" were when i saw white pimple like lesions on my corona area of the penis. This all was 3 months after my "possible exposure" which was "protected" vaginal sex. Also, i only had 1 partner beforehand who was a virgin. The second was a one time encounter.

After noticing my lesions, i looked up online and came across "pearly penile papules," so to confirm this i went to a local STD clinic which a nurse diagnosed me with warts. So to get a second opinion, i went to a local family doctor who looked and said it was warts. Then i went to a dermatologist, before showing him my genitals i had told him i was diagnosed with genital warts. With just a glance he said that they were warts and used cryotherapy to freeze off the "lesions". However when i came back to get a second round of cryo, the dermatologist said that the skin i suspected of lesions were residual skin tags and that the white pimple like lesions were in fact pearly penile papules.

So just to be sure that the lesion type growths on my penis were warts, the derma had a biopsy done on me to make sure. It came out to be a skin tag. Now i do not know if what they treated originally were in fact warts or just skin tags.

The reason i ask this is because i know skin tags can be caused by sex and any other type of friction. So i was wondering if my original suspected lesions were probably just skin tags?

I cant say that ive had another outbreak since my cryo session or not but its been about 3 months.

I dont know, maybe they were warts since i was told they were but papules an warts at the same time? For the cryo they didnt even touch the papules.

are you telling me your previous warts appeared on the corona area of the penis?

Well are you circumcised or not? Because if yes, then it's unlikely for a wart to grow there.

I think, from your stories, i would say you had PPP which was misdiagnosed as warts. But whatever it was, you can't roll back time and no derm can diagnose it based only on your description. I would say it was PPP all this time though

Hey  lightning,

i know what you mean, the distinction from warts and papules should obviously be different. The derma said that they were papules and i checked pictures and its exactly where they usually appear which is the corona area of the penis.

Im just confused as to how they could appear at the same time. Or if they even are what i think they are.

mate, penile papules look different from warts. It's harder to differ warts with other infections, i tell you, rather to try to differ warts with just pearly penile papules. The clear distinction between a PPP and a wart is that the skin area surrounding the wart is usually reddish. Let's say today you have a new wart, usually the skin area around that new wart would be reddish for few days (and would be clear enough to see at day 1).

A PPP also typically only appear on the base of penis head (just try to search for PPP images on google). When you have a suspected wart that's actually nothing appearing on your penis shaft, it might be a gland instead of a PPP. I had several enlarged glands that looked similar to warts but now I can easily differ them.
