PLEASE HELP ME!!! I'M SO SCAREDDD!!!

Hello Im 21 years old and one week ago i was diagnosed with HPV.. my doctor says its high risk hpv.. but i spoke to her and she says im still very far from getting cancer what does this mean? my boyfriend supports me all the way.. the problem with him is he smokes i've heard HPV and smoking do not mix!! if he keeps smoking does it mean he will always be active? what should i do? what should he do?

First, if your boyfriend has an ongoing infection, it will not affect your health. Your immune system will likely clear the virus from your system, leaving you immune to future infections of the same strain.

You have no need to worry. The vast majority of people who contract HPV clear it from their system in a matter of months. Only a very small minority of those who contract high risk HPV develop cervical cancer. It is important to follow your doctors advice and be examined as needed.
