Removed a possible wart today

I went to get an STI check and i had a bump with a white tip and a bit red around it. the doctor removed it and said he had to send it in to be tested. he couldnt say if it was a wart for sure. if i do have HPV is it true that after a period of time my immune system will destroy it? the doctor said it will go away in a matter of 6 months to year. Im pretty scared right now, i thought hpv, especially with warts was for life. how will i know when its gone and im a safe to have unprotected oral in the mean time. i know to use a condom or be abstinent is the best method with sex but i dont want to transmit hpv orally to someone. please help

This is the cloudy part. Avg wait time is 3-6-12-24 months. A year may be too long or too short depending on which doctor you ask. But without a test for men, it is impossible to know if you are not infectious or not. And since many sexually active people have been exposed to multiple strains, no sexually active person can really tell who gave what to who or when. So assuming you have no warts. refrain from sex and build up your immune system in that year, there is a good chance you won't be infectious by then. This doe snot mean you won't be infectious someday, but the odds are low for it to return.

If you are non-infectious can you still transmit it to someone else?

Okay well the results come back in  like 7 days. I exercise, I don't drink, I eat fairly healthy, I smoke but I guess I'll quit. I've always used condoms, I guess I just may be unlucky. I feel like I should avoid all sexual contact for a year to protect others. I wouldn't want to give it to anyone.

For 90% of the infected, our bodies immune system fights the virus and we become non-infectious. No one knows who is in this 90%. Within 3-6-12 months, most people become non-infectious and no more warts come back. It never leaves the body. Some unlucky people get more warts years later from the same strain. Transmitting it orally is more difficult than via genital sex. Men cannot be tested other than biopsy of a wart so all you can do is use time (months) to know if you are infectious or not. This is a not serious (for most) transitent disease. Live a healthy life. Don't smoke cigs, drink less, exercise, take vitamins, get more rest, etc. This tends to help some people recover but medical science don't actually say this.
