So frustrated...

by Yogaaa, Aug 28, 2009 10:46PM
Hi,
I have a series of symptoms and no answers and now I'm having trouble sleeping at night because of it.

It all began last December when I had an severe itch in the anal/vaginal area. I was told by a doctor to treat it as a yeast infection but she did a pap anyways to determine the cause. About a month later, I was told that no yeast was detected but I did have abnormal cells, so I should repeat my pap in 6 months. Since that pap, I've had two similar itch flare ups and thick, white discharge. Last month, I had my second pap test and about two weeks after, my doctor's office called me and told me it was normal, so I was relieved ( even though I've continued to have excess discharge). But then about two weeks ago after that phone call, my doctor's office called back and said that "my cells won't stay normal" and she'd like me to see a gyno.

Since then, I had a severe itch outbreak again so I went and saw another doctor. This doctor also believed it was a yeast infection and gave me diflucan. My itch is gone but my discharge is still excessive. I recently called this doctor's office to find out my results but they told me that they had been sent to "community health" and it could take 4-6 weeks. Is that how long a normal culture takes?

My boyfriend and I have always used protection, except during oral sex. Should I go get tested for stds?

I am so scared and I'm getting no answers and everyone just think its a yeast infection. My gyno appointment isn't for two months and I'm going crazy...

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
