Sore skin on the tip of the penis

This is is in no way painful but the other day my penis when it brushes against my boxer shorts I experienced I slight tender sensation. I suspect the penis is tender due to friction with my clothing while I ran to the station to make it on time for the train. I applied some cream(folliculitis) on my penis and it seems to be less tender as the days pass. Any other creams you could recommend? Should I try aloe? Also I am putting on a bit of weight as I age so I should I buy more baggier trousers to prevent friction in the groin area? An immediate response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
