would a girl test positive for hpv though if her boyfriend has hand warts...? i understand it is not the cancer causing strain or the genital wart causing strain but would she test positive for hpv in general?
(obviously) the girl i'm referring to is me.. i got news that i tested positive for hpv but i dont know what strain yet. i'm just trying to figure out who i could have gotten it from.. i have been in a monogamous relationship for over three years and neither of us has ever had genital warts.. the best explanation i can come up with (besides infidelity or the chance i got infected before meeting my current bf) is that he has warts on his hands and he touches me during intercourse. is it possible this is the reason i tested positive?
Thought I'd pitch in. You say you got tested positive for HPV, do you mean via a pap smear? In that case you have a high risk strain (which doesn't cause warts), as the pap test can't detect low risk HPV and therefore there is no test (other than visual diagnosis) to detect if you have genital warts.
It's more than likely you got HPV from a previous relationship and the virus only just became active, or you got it from your current partner (as there are no tests for men, he would not know he had it)
Finger causing warts would not lead to low or high risk HPV and would not be detected by a pap.
