What do warts look like?  and when some say they can be hidden what does that mean?  Can they be like a hair follicle and be under the skin, or are they always visible no matter what you do?

the reason i asked all those ?S was that i have hair follicle bumps in the folds and they are only noticeable when you stretch the penis skin all the way back, but the bumps go awy until then, just as in a hair follicle.  i believe its nothing, as i have read other posts n the dr's had a similar ? and it was nothign to him.  thank you everyone!

When i mean milder, not based on the bump amounts, but based on the time we need to wait to take care of the virus.

Also i honestly dont believe what i had was skin irritation because i know how a common skin irritation looked like, i wished i visited a better dermatologist though

Thank you for clearing it up. That's what i would like to know because ever since last November 2010 or so, i had this bump inside the skin as if something grew from the inside, it was just a small bump but the size stays the same all this time. Been a year, i have been to 2 dermatologists and they said it's impossible if those are warts, they said it's most likely "fat thingey" that grow inside my penis, and nothing to worry about. I, of course, believed their opinion, but as someone who's paranoid way too much, i suddenly get alarmed once blacknwhitethinker asked if a wart can grow under the skin.

Thanks.

Also, genesisi, do you know if you can pop out a wart? I have asked Griever and Dr. hunter and they believe no it's not possible. Here's basically my question:

If it wasnt wart that I had, then what was it? I was thinking of molluscum contagiosum but I think i have this kind of wart-like bumps that can be popped out several times already since last year...and that seemed odd if that was molluscum (because molluscum shouldnt take months to reappear and should be milder compared to HPV?)

I wasn't clear enough in my original post.  Apologies.

Warts can and do occur around the anus, rectum, and perineum.

Warts growing underneath the skin are rare.  You may have read about it, but I have never come accross a case of a wart growing under the surface of exterior skin.  Warts usually grow on the surface of the skin.

Then again, as with everything, there are always anomolies.

Yes they can grow under the skin, they are known as internal warts. Ive read about them and some people have said they also got internal warts. Ive mostly read them with people who develop them in the anus.

I have never come accross genital warts growing UNDERNEATH the skin.

Sometimes, as I said, warts can be 'hidden' between a fold of skin.

Genital warts often occur in clusters and can be very tiny or can spread into large masses in the genital or penis area. In other cases they look like small stalks. In women they occur on the outside and inside of the vagina, on the opening (cervix) to the womb (uterus), or around (or inside) the anus. They are approximately as prevalent in men but the symptoms may be less obvious.

When present, they usually are seen on the tip of the penis. They also may be found on the shaft of the penis, on the scrotum, or around (or inside) the anus. Rarely, genital warts also can develop in the mouth or throat of a person who has had oral sex with an infected person

In terms of hidden warts, yes, they can be internal, or under a fold of skin, not under folicles though.

Hope this helps,

Adam
