Will I become immune to a low risk strain of HPV?

by help1525, Jun 30, 2009 04:50PM
I recently was diagnosed with a low risk strain of HPV. Yesterday actually. I was pretty mortified I have always tried to be so careful. Made sure everyone was tested. At that point I didn't know that not only was HPV not standard testing for men but that there isn't even a FDA approved test for it! Anyways. I'm young and healthy my body should kick the virus itself. But now I'm almost sure that my soon to be husband has it too. Will I continue to contract the virus from him or will my body become immune to it?

Usually once you clear the virus you will develop immunity. Continuinng sex is not a risk.

New partners need to be made aware of the risk of transmission so they can decide if the risk is acceptable to them. Current partners likely share the virus and sex will not prolong the infections.
